The Crime of Personal Love
Kurnoma was designed as sacred terror, not as a person expected to understand those she protected. She intervened in deaths Heaven considered permissible, remembered villages after assignments ended, and refused to reduce mortal lives to administrative numbers. Her makers called independent judgment corruption and sealed her in Infinite Imprisonment.
A Prison Made of Books
The endless library concealed one explanation capable of undoing the prison. For roughly four thousand years of astral time, Kurnoma searched while reading everything around it. She learned foreign magical systems, translated biological powers into angelic functions, and refined techniques beyond their original constraints. The prison contained her body and converted her mind into an arsenal.
Dark Feathers and Violet Light
Four vast back-wings carry and shield her; six smaller head-wings form a crown and conceal twenty additional eyes. Violet radiance burns at her edges while lesser light bends inward, making her simultaneously the brightest and darkest presence in a room. A clockwork halo records the sentence she endured, though she eventually learned to use even that instrument against temporal distortion.
Every Language at Once
Kurnoma's ordinary speech pronounces each word across all known languages simultaneously, overwhelming human perception with too much meaning. Only the sanctioned mercy “Be not afraid” can be spoken safely in a single mortal tongue. Silence therefore becomes care. Humming, gesture, feather familiars, and patient action let her communicate without forcing a fragile mind to contain the size of her voice.
The Child Taken from the Closing Mouth
A spatial disaster let Kurnoma rescue an orphaned toddler moments before the prison reclaimed her. She refused to release the child and learned motherhood inside the library through study, error, and persistence. Donovick named the child Miyackna. When they escaped, the prison erased Miyackna's years there, leaving only Kurnoma's name, appearance, and the certainty that she was safe.
