A Portable Hearth
Kurnoma is maternal even with strangers, honest to a disarming degree, and capable of lowering hostility through simple warmth. Every settlement on the pair's circuit becomes home because she performs the emotional labor of making people feel held there.
Trust Without Navigation
She has no spatial awareness and cannot travel safely alone. Her strength is emotional rather than martial, and dependence is not hidden as a shameful defect. She holds Sorin's sleeve or vest while he guides her by pressure, touch, and long-suffering patience.
The Warning and the Promise
The small bell at her side rings with movement and acts as a perfect directional locator for Sorin. Its origin is unknown even to Kurnoma. Across the region, its sound means both that the Hearthbell Girl is near and that her guardian will be shortly.
Six Homes, One Pair
Their nomadic circuit does not make them rootless. Kurnoma brings warmth; Sorin carries supplies and removes danger. When separated, the bell rings, Sorin follows, and whatever caused the separation usually regrets the decision.
